Marshall Community Services Classes & Courses

The Marshall Aquatic Center will open on Saturday, June 3.  Marshall Aquatic Center Season Passes are available to purchase at the Marshall Community Services office (in person or by calling 537-6767) or online at www.ci.marshall.mn.us. 


 


Minor League T-Ball for boys and girls entering preschool (ages 3-5 and not entering kindergarten) will be held at Legion Field from 8:00am-8:45am from June 5 – June 29.  Participants have the choice of meeting on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays or Thursdays.  Fee: $20 if registered by 5/26, $30 if registered after 5/26.


 


Jr. Baseball for boys and girls entering grades 2-4 will begin on Monday, June 5.  Practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am and 12:00pm at Legion Field.  Games will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Fee: $50 if registered by 5/26, $60 if registered after 5/26.


 


Youth Tiger Gymnastics Lessons will begin the week of June 5 in the Gymnastics Room at the Marshall High School.  Session 1 will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Session 2 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Tiny Tuckers (ages 3-5) will meet from 8:00am-8:30am.  Jr. Tumblers (ages 5-12) will meet 8:35am-9:20am.  Hot Shots (ages 6-12) will meet from 9:25am-10:10am.  Tiger Stars (ages 6-12) will meet from 10:15am-11:00am. Bouncing Boys (ages 3-7) will meet from 11:05am-11:35am.  Fee: $24 per person.


 


Youth Open Hockey Sessions will be held June 5 – 22 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) at the Red Baron Arena & Expo.  Mini Mites, Mites, Squirts and 10U will meet from 1:00-2:30pm.  Pee Wee, Bantams, 12U and High School (boys and girls) will meet from 2:30-4:00pm.  These hockey sessions will be designed for players to have access to ice time during the afternoon hours – there is no instruction in these sessions.  Fee: $30 per person.


 


Marshall Hockey Summer Training Program will begin the week of June 5th at the Red Baron Arena & Expo.  This program, for both boys and girls, is designed for hockey players to create a positive hockey environment that instills a love of the game and develops the skills essential to being a competitive hockey player.  Sessions are scheduled for Bantams/Girls High School, Mites, Squirts/U10, Boys High School and Pee Wee/U12.  Fee varies depending on the level.


 


Tiger Gymnastic Team Session will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30pm-2:30pm from June 5-July 27 in the Marshall High School Gymnastics room.  For current MHS Tiger gymnasts, these sessions will be instructed by MHS coaches and MHS alumni gymnasts.  Fee: $125 per person.


 


Girls Basketball Summer School will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 5 – July 13 at the Marshall Middle School Gym.  Grades 3-4 will meet from 9:00am-10:00am, and grades 5-6 will meet from 10:00am-11:00am.  This program is designed to help players improve individual skills including ball handling with either hand, passing, proper shooting techniques, game-like decision making and playing the full court game.  Fee: $45 per person.


 


Three-Two-Run Track Program will be held on Mondays (June 5-26) from 8:00-8:45am at the Marshall Middle School Track.  Boys and girls entering grades K-2 will be introduced to the great sport of track and field by running and jumping their way to meeting new friends and skills.  Fee: $20 per person.


 


Mini Movements Dance Class will be held on Mondays at Park Side School from June 5 – July 10 (no class 7/3) from 5:00pm-5:40pm.  This introduction class to basic dance skills for boys and girls ages 4-5 offers fun and innovative ways to instill a love for dance while expanding each child’s creative approach to movement.  Fee: $35 per person.


 


Discovering Dance Class will be held on Mondays at Park Side School from June 5 – July 10 (no class 7/3) from 5:45pm-6:30pm.  Boys and girls in grades K-2 will improve rhythm and flexibility and explore different types of dance.  Fee: $35 per person.


 


Exploring Dance Class will be held on Mondays at Park Side School from June 5 – July 10 (no class 7/3) from 6:35pm-7:30pm.  Boys and girls in grades 3-5 will improve rhythm, gross and fine motor skills, coordination and balance all while having fun and meeting new friends.  Fee: $35 per person.


 


“The Magical Land of Oz” Children’s Theater Workshop for students entering grades 3-8 will be held June 5 through June 16 from 8:00am-12:00pm in the SMSU Main Stage Theater.  Performances will be held on June 16 at 7:00pm and on June 17 at 2:00pm.  Students will create the posters, sets and costumes, and learn about drama, dance, music and behind-the-scenes theater.  Fee: $40 per person.


 


Girls Volleyball Instructional League will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 6 through July 13 at the Marshall High School.  Grades 9-12 will meet from 8:15am-9:45am.  Grades 7-8 will meet from 9:45am-11:15am.  Grades 4-6 will meet from 11:30am-12:45pm.  Fee: $60 per person.


 


Tiger Rising Stars Track & Field Camp will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am-8:45am from June 6-29 at the Marshall Middle School Track.  This program is for boys and girls in grades 3-8 and will teach basic running, jumping and throwing skills through track and field events.  Fee: $30 per person.


 


Fun Basketball will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 6-June 22 at West Side School gym.  Boys and girls entering Pre-school through 1st grade will meet from 8:30am-9:15am.  Boys and girls entering grades 2-3 will meet from 9:30am-10:15am.  This program will be run by SMSU Men’s Basketball team and coaches.  Fee: $25 per person.


 


MCS Small Group Gymnastics Lessons will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (June 6-22) in the Marshall High School Gymnastics Room.  Ages 5-8 will meet from 6:00-6:30pm OR 6:30-7:00pm.  Ages 9-12 will meet from 7:00-7:30pm OR 7:30-8:00pm.  These small group lessons will enhance skill learning and lesson effectiveness using individual attention on each gymnast in a great learning environment.  Fee: $60 per person.


 


Jr. T-Ball for boys and girls entering kindergarten and 1st grade will begin on Tuesday, June 6.  Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am and 12:00pm at Legion Field. Games will be held on Wednesdays evenings.  Fee: $45 if registered by 5/26, $55 if registered after 5/26.


 


Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Evening lessons will be held June 6-29 (Tuesday and Thursday) at the Marshall Aquatic Center – outdoor pool.  Level 1 is offered from 5:35pm-6:15pm.  Levels 2-4 are offered from 5:35pm-6:25pm. Fee: $35 per person.


 


Under the Sea will be held on Wednesday, June 7 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Marshall Aquatic Center.  Come splash with friends and kick off summer vacation with members of the Marshall cast from the summer production of “The Little Mermaid”.  Pre-registration with Marshall Community Services is required.  The cost is $10 per child, $6 per swimming adult (observers are free) – with a family cap of $40.


 


Girls Tiger Varsity/JV Summer Hockey Team Camp will be held on Thursday nights from 7:00-8:30pm from June 8 – July 27 (no camp on 7/6) at the Red Baron Arena & Expo.  Power skating, skill development, stick handling, and team concepts for both offense and defense will be stressed.  Fee: $140 per player.


 


Driver Education Classroom Openings:  The next classroom session of Driver Education will be held June 11 through June 30.  The program will begin with a Parent/Teen session on Sunday, June 11 at 6:30pm at the Marshall Middle School, and classroom sessions will be held Monday through Friday at the MERIT Center.  Students must be age 14 before they begin the classroom.  A completed contract (with both parent/guardian and student signatures) and the registration fee are required to hold a spot in the class.  Registration is limited, so please sign up today.  Please call Marshall Community Services at 537-6767 with questions. 


 


Youth Archery for ages 8 and up will be held June 12 – June 22 (Monday through Thursday both weeks) at the Marshall Middle School.  Participants have the option of attending from 11:00am-11:50am OR 12:00pm-12:50pm.  Learn the basics of archery including terminology, safety and scoring while gaining experience with a bow and arrow.  Fee: $40 per person.


 


Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Morning lessons will be held June 12-22 (Monday through Thursday) at the Marshall Aquatic Center – outdoor pool.  Levels 1-6 are offered at 9:00am and 10:00am.  Level 1 lessons will last 40 minutes.  Level 2-6 lessons will last 50 minutes.  Fee: $35 per person.  Private swim lessons will be from 8:15-8:45am and 11:00am-11:30am.  Fee $60 per person.


 


Talents Academy Class “Sweet Treats!” will be held June 12-16 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 5-8 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Grades 2-4 will meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  Learn how to bake, decorate and create a different treat to take home to your family each day.  Fee: $40 per person – plus a $13 supply fee payable to the instructor at the first class.


 


Talents Academy Class “Beginning Sewing for Kids!” will be held June 12-16 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  For grades 4 and up, this program will meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  Using just a straight seam, kids will have several quick and fun projects to choose from.  Fee: $40 per person.


 


ECFE-Art…Music…Science (for birth – 7 year olds with a parent) will be held on Mondays (June 12, 19 and 26) from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the ECFE Office in the Marshall Middle School.  Fee: $15 per family.


 


Talents Academy Class “Origami for Kids!” will be held June 12-16 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-8 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Learn how to fold decorative, cool and useful items – all out of a sheet of paper.  Fee: $40 per person.


 


Talents Academy Class “3D Magic and Design” will be held June 12-16 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 4-8 will meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  Join this course to learn more about 3D printing and the programs that go with the printer – take your print home!  Fee: $45 per person.


 


Talents Academy Class “Legos 101 Beginners” will be held June 12-16 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-4 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Use your creative skills while learning LEGO basics – like a drawbridge, friction car and zip-line flyer.  Fee: $40 per person.


 


Talents Academy Class “Lego Engineering” will be held June 12-16 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 5-8 will meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  Create vehicles with universal joints and steering racks – then improve to walking machines.  Fee: $40 per person.


 


Talents Academy Class “Sign Language for Kids!” will be held June 12-16 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 4-8 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Learn the ABC’s, simple words, over 100 greetings, signs, phrases and more.  Fee: $40 per person.


 


MCS Red Baron Arena Evening Open Skate will be held on Fridays from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Open Adult Hockey will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Admission for open skate and open hockey is $5 per skater with rental skates available for $3.  Family Open Skate will be held on Saturdays from 2:00-4:00pm for only $4 per person.
