Marshall Community Services Classes & Courses

Please pre-register for classes.  For registration information, call 537-6767 from 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday or log onto www.ci.marshall.mn.us.

Beginning Hockey will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30pm-6:30pm from September 18 through October 12 at the Red Baron Arena & Expo.  This program is for boys and girls ages 4 through 4th grade who have no previous organized hockey experience to have fun and be introduced to the sport of hockey.  Fee: $40 per person.

 

ECFE-FUNdamentals (for birth-5 years with a parent) will be held on Mondays (September 18 – October 30) from 4:15pm-5:45pm OR 6:00pm-7:30pm at the ECFE Office in the Marshall Middle School.  Fee: $28 per family.  (Sliding fee scale applies to this class.)

 

Introduction to Cake Decorating 101 for Adults will be held on September 18 and 25 (Mondays) from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the Marshall High School FACS Room.  Learn how to decorate cakes and cupcakes.  Fee: $25 per person.

 

Icky, Sticky Fun will be held from 3:30-5:00pm at the Marshall Middle School for boys and girls in grades 3-8.  Kids will have the chance to get hands-on messy with bubbles and play-doh.  There are 4 dates offered: Tuesday, September 19; Thursday, October 12; Thursday, November 2 and Thursday, November 30.  You can register for them separately or together.  Fee: $10 per session OR $30 for all sessions.

 

ECFE-First Friends (for birth-5 years with a parent) will be held on Wednesdays (September 20-December 13) from 8:30am-10:00am OR 10:15am-11:45am at the ECFE Office in the Marshall Middle School.  Fee: $44 per family.  (Sliding fee scale applies to this class.)

 

Fun with Theater will be held on Wednesdays (September 20, 27, October 4, 11 & 25) from 2:30pm-4:30pm and on Tuesday, October 17 from 3:00pm-5:00pm in the West Side Gym.  This program allows 3rd and 4th graders to be a part of the exciting world of theater through theater games, stage set-up and directions, lighting, etc.  Final performance will be held on Wednesday, October 25 at 5:00pm.  Fee: $35 per person – includes a snack.

 

ECFE-Everyday Rhythm (for birth-5 years with a parent) will be held on Thursdays (September 21 – November 16) from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the ECFE Office in the Marshall Middle School.  Fee: $32 per family.  (Sliding fee scale applies to this class.)

 

ECFE-Popular Parenting (for birth-5 years with a parent) will be held on Fridays (September 22 – November 17) from 10:00am-11:30am at the ECFE Office in the Marshall Middle School.  Fee: $32 per family.  (Sliding fee scale applies to this class.)

 

Substitute Teaching and Substitute Paraprofessional Informational Meeting will be held on Monday, September 25 from 9:00am-10:00am OR Thursday, September 28 from 4:00pm-5:00pm in the Professional Development Room in the District Office.  Marshall Public Schools is in need of additional substitute teachers and substitute paraprofessionals – learn about the application process, duties, expectations, scheduling, wages and what a typical day is like.  There is no fee for this meeting, but please pre-register with MCS if you plan to attend.

 

Excel for Everyday Use will be held from 7:00pm-9:00pm in the Marshall Middle School Media Center on Tuesday, September 26 and Thursday, September 28.  Microsoft Excel has so many everyday uses – from lists to budgets and more.  Fee: $50 per person.

 

Introduction to Chess will be held on Tuesdays from 3:20-4:30pm in the West Side School cafeteria from September 26 through November 21 (no class 11/14).  For students in grades 3-6, this after school offering will teach the fundamentals of the great game of chess, from identifying the pieces and how they move to the basic strategies and tactics of playing.  Fee: $30 per person.

 

ECFE – Baby Play Date for birth-12 months with a parent will be held on Thursdays (September 28, October 26, November 30 and December 21) from 10:00-11:30am at Heritage Pointe (207 North 4th Street in Marshall).  Heritage Pointe and ECFE are joining hands to create a Baby Play Date with residents in the Marshall community.  This intergenerational class is designed for parents and their babies to engage and connect with those who have dementia, learn about the disease and how babies are great therapy for the residents.  There is no cost to participate, but please pre-register with MCS.

 

MCS Red Baron Arena Evening Open Skate will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:00pm-10:00pm and on Sunday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Open Adult Hockey will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm-10:00pm.  Admission for open skate and open hockey is $5 per skater with rental skates available for $3.
