Marshall Community Services Classes & Courses

The Marshall Aquatic Center is open!  Marshall Aquatic Center season passes are available to purchase at the Marshall Community Services office (in person or by calling 537-6767), online at www.ci.marshall.mn.us or at the Marshall Aquatic Center. 

 

Open Skate Summer Membership will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00pm-3:00pm from June 4-July 30.  The fee is only $35 per person and includes skate rental.

 

Adult Open Hockey Summer Membership will be held on Tuesdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm from June 5-July 31.  The fee is only $35 per person and includes skate rental.

 

Driver Education Classroom Openings:  The next classroom session of Driver Education will be held June 10 through June 29.  The program will begin with a Parent/Teen session on Sunday, June 10 at 6:30pm at the Marshall Middle School, and classroom sessions will be held Monday through Friday at the MERIT Center.  Students must be age 14 before they begin the classroom.  A completed contract (with both parent/guardian and student signatures) and the registration fee are required to hold a spot in the class.  Registration is limited, so please sign up today.  Please call Marshall Community Services at 537-6767 with questions. 

 

Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Morning lessons will be held June 11-21 (Monday through Thursday) at the Marshall Aquatic Center – outdoor pool.  Levels 1-6 are offered at 9:00am and 10:00am.  Level 1 lessons will last 40 minutes.  Level 2-6 lessons will last 50 minutes.  Fee: $40 per person.  Private swim lessons will be from 8:15am-8:45am and 11:00am-11:30am.  Fee $60 per person.

 

Origami for Kids! will be held June 11-14 (Monday-Thursday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-8 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Learn how to fold decorative, cool and useful items – all out of a sheet of paper.  Fee: $35 per person.

 

Wacky Wire Hose Sculpture will be held June 11-15 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-8 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Use a wood base, wire and stretchy fabric to make some fun sculptures.  Fee: $35 per person – a $5 material fee is payable to instructor at first class.

 

Legos Racers will be held June 11-15 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-4 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Designs/topics included will be wind, rubber band, balloon, and gravity-powered cars.  Fee: $35 per person.

 

Little Hitters Tennis Camp for boys and girls entering grades K-3 will be held on Tuesdays (June 12-26) from 10:00am-10:50am at the Legion Field Tennis Courts.  This program is designed to include fun movement, games and fitness activity for youth with little or no previous tennis experience.  Fee: $20 per person.

 

Flannel Quilts for Kids for grades 4-8 will be held from 1:00pm-2:30pm at the Marshall High School.  There are two separate sessions for this activity: June 12-15 (Tuesday-Friday) AND June 19-22 (Tuesday-Friday).  Participants will make a quilt in 4 days.  Fee: $35 per person.

 

Golf Lessons will be held June 18-22 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) at the Driving Range.  Children ages 7-17 will meet from 4:00pm-4:50pm or 5:00pm-5:50pm.  Adults will meet from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  Participants will be instructed on grip, stance, posture, chipping, putting, full swing, etiquette and rules.  Fee: $30 per person.

 

Let’s Get Cookin’ Camp will be held June 18-22 (Monday-Friday) from 1:00pm-2:30pm in the Marshall Middle School FACS Room.  This camp, for ages 4-7, allows children to create and share something to eat at each class.  Fee: $35 per person – an additional $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

 

Fun with Paper Mache will be held June 18-22 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-4 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm, and grades 5-8 will meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  This class will be using paper mache to create fun and original masks.  Fee: $35 per person – an additional $5 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

 

MHS Tiger Speech Team’s Introduction to Competitive Speech for grades 6-9 will be held June 18-22 (Monday-Friday) from 10:30am-12:00pm at the Marshall High School.  Participants will be introduced to the activity of competitive speech – learning about the speaking events that are offered (humorous, serious, informative, etc.) and crafting their own speech.  Fee: $35 per person.

 

Lego Advanced Machines will be held June 18-22 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 5-8 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Learn about Rube Goldberg, chain reactions, pinball, catapult and trebuchet – machines that will stretch minds and creativity.  Fee: $35 per person.

 

Movie Story Magic – From Beginning to End will be held June 18-22 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 4-12 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm.  Learn what it takes to take an idea and turn it into a movie.  Fee: $35 per person.

 

Watercolor Technique will be held June 25-29 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-4 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm, and grades 5-8 will meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  This class will be using watercolors to create fun projects.  Fee: $35 per person – an additional $5 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

 

Kid Chefs will be held June 25-29 (Monday-Friday) at the Marshall High School.  Grades 1-4 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm, and grades 5-8 will meet from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  Participants will prepare and enjoy “real food” that is both nutritious and delicious!  Fee: $35 per person – an additional $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

 

Pioneer Camp will be held on June 25-29 (Monday through Friday) from 9:30am-11:00am.  Monday will be held at the one room schoolhouse behind West Side School.  Tuesday-Friday will be held at the Lyon County Museum.  Come explore life as a pioneer through a variety of games and activities.  Fee: $35 per person.

 

Junior Engineer for grades 5-8 will be held on June 25-29 (Monday through Friday) from 1:00pm-2:30pm at the Marshall High School.  Youth work in teams to design their project, test it and make adjustments as they try to optimize their design.  Fee: $35 per person.
