| Crossing Guard
Change Information |
As the school
year is fast approaching, we, the Marshall Police Dept. and Adult Crossing
Guards wish to inform you of a few changes and remind you of some safety tips.
There will
NO longer be a crossing guard stationed at the intersections of College &
Whitney by the Marshall Area Christian School, and Adobe & E. Lyon near Park
Side.
The following
locations will have Adult Crossing Guards available:
Bruce/E. Lyon –
not staffed during winter months
E. Main/C
St./Lyon by the Coke Plant
Saratoga/C St.
– not staffed during winter months
Saratoga/James
in front of the Middle School
Country Club
Dr./S. 2nd St.
Country Club
Dr./S. 4th St.
S. 4th
St./W. College Dr.
Some key safety
points to discuss with your child regarding their commute to and from school:
1.
All people crossing during guard
hours should wait for the guards to direct them across the intersection.
2.
Students riding bikes must get off
their bikes and walk it across the intersection when directed to do so by the
guards. If they fail to do this, they give up their pedestrian rights.
3.
In areas where there is a crossing
guard nearby, students should cross the street at the locations of the guards
rather than crossing at an unguarded location. Example: Saratoga/Robert does
not have a guard, but Saratoga/James does.
4.
Please remind students, to be
courteous and respectful of the guards as they are taking time out of their days
to help keep them safe.
Attention
Vehicle Operators:
When driving in
areas of schools and crossing guards, please be alert and aware of your
surroundings. The children of our community are very important to us and we
want to keep them safe!
The guards have
very visible STOP signs which you are required to obey. You can be charged with
a crime if you violate the stop sign.
If you have
questions or concerns, please contact Sgt. Wenker or School Resource Officer
VanLeeuwe of the Marshall Police Dept.
On behalf of the Marshall Police Dept. and the Adult Crossing Guards, we wish
everyone an enjoyable and safe school year!
