Marshall Community Services Classes & Courses

The 2010 Fall MCS Brochure has been released, and registration is in progress.  Copies of the brochure are available in the MCS office.

Tiger Dance Academy will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the Marshall Middle School Gym through October 7.  This program is designed for girls in grades 7-12 to have fun and to improve their level of dance technique leading up to the intense winter competitive season. 

Tackle Football (7th-8th grade girls and boys) will be held Monday through Thursday from 3:30pm-5:00pm beginning August 30th at the Marshall Middle School football complex.  Up-to-date physicals are required and must be on record.

Driver Improvement Program will meet for an 8-hour class on Monday, August 30 and Tuesday, August 31 from 5:30pm-9:30pm at the Marshall Middle School Teacher’s Lounge.  Persons age 55 and older who complete this course qualify for a 10% discount on their auto insurance premiums for 3 years.  To register for this class, please call 1-888-234-1294.

Tackle Football (5th-6th grade girls and boys) will begin on Tuesday, August 31st. Practices are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:00 P at the Marshall Middle School football complex.  Games are played on Saturday mornings. Up-to-Date physicals are required and must be on record.

Jr. Flag Football (2nd- 4th grade girls and boys) will begin August 31st.  Practice will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning August 31st with the choice of 5:00-6:00pm or 6:00-7:00pm practice time. Saturday morning games will begin on September 11th.  All practices and games will be held at Legion Fields.

Marshall Middle School Soccer Program for grades 5-8 will begin on Tuesday, August 31 at the Marshall Middle School.  Practice will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-5:00pm.  Participants must provide their own shin guards and have a current physical on file.

Driver Improvement Program will meet for a 4-hour refresher class on Wednesday, September 1 from 5:30pm-9:30pm at the Marshall Middle School Teacher’s Lounge.  To register for this class, please call 1-888-234-1294.

Photo Scrapbooking for ages 8 and older will be held on Monday evenings (September 6 & 13) from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Treasured Times on Main Street.  Learn new ways to scrapbook and basics about your camera.  Students will pay for their own supplies.

Shotokan Karate for ages 7 and up will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 7 through December 9 from 6:00pm-7:00pm on the Marshall Middle School Shelf.  This class promotes self-confidence, self-control, concentration, physical endurance and flexibility.

Spanish for Beginners will be held on Tuesdays from September 7 through September 28 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Adult Community Center.  Begin learning Spanish and develop your communicative skills in the second most spoken language in the US.

Mini Sweets Class will be held from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the MMS Home Ec Room.  Class will meet on 3 Tuesdays: September 7, October 5 and November 9.  Learn how to bake small, hand-held items like cookies, scones and muffins from scratch using simple ingredients to make delicious home-baked goods in no time.

Jr. Volleyball (3rd-6th grade girls and boys) will begin on Tuesday, September 7 at Park Side Gym.  Grades 3-4 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm-4:30pm.  Grades 5-6 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30pm-5:30pm.  Participants will practice on Tuesdays and have games on Thursdays. 

Dog Obedience in 10 Minutes a Day will be held on Saturdays at Independence Park from September 11 through October 2 from 9:00am-10:00am.  This class is for dogs 4 months of age and older and handlers over 15 years of age.  The goal is to make your pet a more welcome part of your family and the community.  Dogs should be properly licensed and have current shots.  Please bring a chain collar and 6-foot leash, love, affection and lots of patience.  No repeat participants/dogs please.

Sewing for Kids for ages 8 and older will be held from 9:00am-12:00pm on Saturday, September 11 at Fabrics Plus (307 West Main Street).  Class will include introduction to simple hand and machine sewing using just a straight seam to make a simple project.

September ECFE classes will begin the week of September 13 at the ECFE Office in the Marshall Middle School.  Sibling Care is available.  Classes are available for children birth to 5 years old and meet once a week for 7 weeks.

Spanish Round Table will be held on Monday evenings from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Adult Community Center from September 13 through October 4.  This program is an open weekly gathering of people of an age who wish to practice Spanish with Native speakers.

Marshall Middle School After School Program is open to all 5th-8th grades and meets Mondays through Thursdays from 3:05pm-5:30pm at the Marshall Middle School.  This program will begin meeting on Monday, September 13 and will run through May – for only $70!  Participants may also register for the fall semester only for $40.  To register for this program, please pick up a form in the Marshall Middle School Office or at Marshall Community Services. 

Fall Jr. Golf Lessons for ages 8-17 will be held Monday, September 13 through Thursday, September 16 at the Marshall Golf Course Driving Range.  Two sessions are available: 3:30pm-4:30pm and 4:30pm-5:30pm.  Instruction will be given on grip, stance, posture, chipping, putting, etiquette, and rules.
